G Hotel CNY Prosperity Set Dinner

So you are planning your Chinese New Year dinner and is lost for a decent place for a get together with your family? Fret not, I have just the solution for you...

This Chinese New Year, Sesame + Soy Pan Asian Chinese Cuisine would offer two decadent 6 course set menus to choose from which will be available from 31st January till 14th February

What would a Chinese New Year dinner be like if there was no tossing of Yee Sang right? Only the freshest ingredient is selected for their Riches & Honors Yee Sang with kwei fei abalone & Norwegian salmon.

Just thinking back on the Yee Sang alone has got my saliva drooling.

If that was not enough of a starter, we have the Braised Sea Treasures Chowder with lobster meat & bamboo fungus.

Just look at the gracious amount of seafood in their chowder. I could say this would remain one of the best chowder I've ever had.

Then we have the Two Variety Combinations. One side we have the Sautéed White Prawns with tomato butter cream cheese flavors. Trust me when I say they are real flavorful.

The other side we have a unique creation from the chef, the Deep-fried Boneless Chicken with kiwi dressing. At first glance, it might look weird but the sweet and sour taste in the mouth is totally one of a kind.

Then we have the healthy traditional and healthy dish of Assorted Sea Kingdom Combinations simmered with sea moss in local farm green. The mushroom with broccoli dipped into the thick sauce containing "Fatt Choi" is truly a bliss.

Steamed Cod Fish with Honshimeji Mushrooms In supreme soy. Only the freshest cut was steamed to perfection, just nice, not too raw yet not too cooked. The fish melts slowly in the mouth and words just couldn't explain how good this is.

The dinner is completed with their special dessert, Sweetened Dried Longan Meat with Peaches, Sea coconut, gingko nuts & lotus seeds.

All these dishes are the creation of their talented in house chef, Chef Chiam. The portion is just nice, healthy, fresh and simply delicious.

The above set is for RM128++ per person while a cheaper set at RM98++ per person contains the following dishes:-
  • Fatt Choy Yee Sang with Norwegian salmon
  • Tomato Chowder with sea cucumber, crab meat & prawn meat

MyKuali Penang White Curry Noodles Review

After much hype in the Malaysia about MyKuali Penang White Curry Noodles being listed as top 10 spiciest noodles by The Ramen Rater, there was a rush to try it and most places went out of stock with places like eBay selling a bundle of 4 individual pack of noodles for the outraging price of RM20 not including shipping. I finally laid my hands on 2 big boxes of these noodles. Yes that's 2 X Box containing 12 bundles of 4 packets each. Yes it's a total of 96 individual packets of instant noodles to be finished by this year end. Within a week, I now have 1 box and a single bundle left with much given to family members and close friends to really try it out.

So does it really deserve the top 10 place? Seriously in my opinion, it is far from being one of the top 10 spiciest noodles around. Simple comparison would have it go against a Mamee Chef Curry Laksa, it would have lost hands down on level of spiciness. But an honest comparison, the aroma does smell better for MyKuali. The smell still lingers in my head and the thicker noodles(compared to other instant noodles) does brings back memories.

Each bundle consists of 4 individual packs. Each bundle is priced at MYR6.99(If only you could lay your hands on them before they get sold out the minute they are out on the shelf)

The contents of each individual packet. The secret curry paste, seasoning powder, creamer and the noodle

Here is what it looks like after the cooking process

Hot steaming noodles

Just how I like my noodles.. With roast pork. What you see here is just part of the larger pork portion..

Overall the taste is unique, spicy? not really that spicy. Aromatic, thicker noodles for a better filling of the tummy. The area where it could do better:- add chilli powder for those who prefers it to be spicier and maybe another packet of ingredients like dried prawns, spring onion, fried onions etc

A Time to Give...

Remember the blog post I had about giving to the less fortunate(LINK HERE) "A Time to Give" Christmas charity programme organized by G Hotel for the fifth consecutive year? Well, that charity drive turned out to be real successful thanks to all the generous donations and also the especially the Hotel and it's staff in making it happen(Yes they literally turned into Santa's workshop days leading to the event)

Nothing beats happy kids happily unwrapping their gifts as if Santa is right there passing them their presents.

The best part is they share their joy with one another

A wrapped present with the wish card

Sharing is caring and in a way a gift is not only a gift for one single individual. It's a gift for more when it is shared.

Mr. Michael Hanratty (General Manager of G Hotel) helping one of the kids with his gift.

Finally.. Thanks to all the generous donors. You guys(and girls) did a great job!
