Kellaw Reviews: Mi A2 Picture Perfect 20MP Cameras

I was one of the lucky ones who managed to get my hands on this sub MYR 1k phone (4GB RAM + 64GB Internal memory) for a usage test and review. How did the Mi A2 perform? Is it the new affordable king which is as legendary as the XiaoMi Mi3? Is the camera good enough? Read on to find out more if you should really get this phone for yourself

I would say this is the perfect gift for your loved ones. Affordable, not burning a hole in the wallet yet lightweight on the processing with your digital security at heart via Android One.

Global Version but what is in it? Unlimited High Quality photo storage for all your photos via Google Photos

Let's unbox the phone. What makes this phone the affordable king? for all other phones with the Snapdragon 660 processor, they are much more expensive with the Mi A2 being the cheapest at only MYR 999 for the 4GB+64GB version and only MYR 1199 for the 6GB+128GB variant. Tell me which phone you could get at that price eh?

The standard global version box comes with a charger, USB C cable, sim slot pin and USB C to 3.5mm headphone jack adapter, User Guide, the Mi A2 and a transparent rubber cover to protect what matters most to us, the phone.

Android One, the core with one of the best battery performance on a 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for a more durable FHD Display screen

Designed by Xiaomi using their best manufacturing process for that ultra-thin 7.3mm design, bottom speakers, full metal unibody with grippable texture so you feel more secured having the phone in your hands and powered by Android One.

Trust me when I say I had an adventure with the camera, bringing it around on my trip as my primary "DSLR" for blog pictures.

Food tasting session. Can you smell the aroma of the noodles just by looking at the picture?

Or that mussels calling out to be eaten. These 2 pictures was taken in low light environment to test what other models usually fail. Too much grains and too little contrasts etc

More food! This is under a normal shaded lighting

How does it fare outdoors? Under direct bright skies. Notice the clarity of the water drops on the leaf? The smoothness of the water flowing across the rocks

Lotus flower in the pond under bright sunlight

The Malaysian flag waving fully in the wind, at that speed, the picture is still stable

Night skyline lights using manual mode, changing the focus to give the light bokeh effect.

Night tree leaves under the street lights

Up in the air clouds for the high altitude picture

Weathered picture under a cold rainy day

Pouring of hot water into a teapot capturing the movement of the water

Lastly, Manual macro mode picture of the wild small flowers by the street.

As you can see, it performed good under the harsh conditions and best of all, unlimited storage for all the pictures that matters to us, the memories, the sweetness of those moments would last forever without worrying about it going missing when the hard disk crashes. All for a sub 1k phone? I would say this is definitely worth more than what we are paying for. My verdict? This is a must have affordable range phone!
